Construction Skilled Trades Recruiter

Full-Time Employee | Phoenix, AZ | Hybrid Flexibility

Russo Modular is a commercial modular building manufacturer specializing in steel-framed modular construction. We are seeking an experienced Construction Skilled Trades Recruiter to join our team as a full-time employee.

The primary objective of this position is to help Russo Modular identify, interview, evaluate, and hire qualified skilled tradespeople, with an immediate and ongoing emphasis on experienced metal framers, electricians, and structural steel welders .

This is not a traditional HR recruiting position. We need someone with enough real-world commercial construction knowledge to determine whether candidates actually know their trade—not simply whether they interview well. The ideal candidate will have broad commercial construction experience and be comfortable having credible, technical conversations with skilled tradespeople. Previous recruiting experience is valuable, but strong construction knowledge and the ability to evaluate skilled workers are especially important.

Primary Recruiting Priorities

Metal Framers

Russo Modular relies heavily on steel and metal-framed construction. This position must be capable of interviewing framing candidates and evaluating their actual experience in areas such as:

• Commercial light-gauge metal stud framing
• Layout and wall framing
• Floor, wall, roof, and parapet assemblies
• Reading construction drawings and framing details
• Proper use of framing tools and equipment
• Understanding gauges, track, studs, connections, and fastening methods
• Working accurately from dimensions and shop drawings
• Distinguishing experienced commercial framers from candidates whose experience may not translate to our manufacturing environment

Electricians

Electrical is another critical and recurring recruiting need for Russo Modular. This position should be comfortable interviewing electrical candidates and assessing practical knowledge and experience involving:

• Commercial electrical construction
• Reading electrical plans and drawings
• Conduit installation and bending
• Wiring methods and circuit installation
• Panels, boxes, devices, and electrical components
• Rough-in and finish electrical work
• Troubleshooting and problem solving
• Working safely and efficiently in a production-oriented construction environment

You do not need to be a licensed electrician or master metal framer. However, you must know enough about construction and the skilled trades to ask intelligent technical questions, recognize strong answers, identify questionable experience, and distinguish genuinely skilled candidates from applicants who simply interview well.

Broad construction knowledge is highly valuable, with particular consideration given to candidates who understand metal framing, electrical, structural steel, and welding .

Responsibilities

The Construction Skilled Trades Recruiter will:

• Source qualified candidates for skilled construction and manufacturing positions.
• Build and maintain a strong, ongoing recruiting pipeline.
• Proactively recruit metal framers, electricians, welders, and other skilled tradespeople.
• Review applications and résumés and identify candidates worth interviewing.
• Conduct initial phone and video interviews.
• Conduct in-person trade interviews at Russo Modular's Phoenix facility at least twice per week .
• Use trade-specific and scenario-based questions to verify candidates' actual knowledge and experience.
• Evaluate candidates for technical ability, construction knowledge, reliability, communication, work history, and fit within a manufacturing environment.
• Recommend the strongest candidates to management for final hiring consideration.
• Coordinate candidate interviews and maintain accurate recruiting records.
• Follow up with candidates throughout the hiring process.
• Help develop and continuously improve trade-specific interview questions and candidate assessments.
• Recruit through job boards, referrals, trade networks, social media, and other appropriate sources.
• Work closely with Russo Modular management and operations personnel to understand current and upcoming staffing needs.

The Person We're Looking For

We are especially interested in someone who has spent enough time around commercial construction to recognize the difference between someone who has worked around a trade and someone who actually knows how to do the work .

Strong candidates may come from backgrounds such as:

• Construction superintendent
• General superintendent
• Construction project manager
• Assistant superintendent
• Experienced commercial construction foreman
• Metal framing foreman or supervisor
• Electrical foreman or supervisor
• General contractor
• Modular construction supervisor
• Construction operations manager
• Skilled-trades recruiter with substantial construction knowledge

Previous recruiting experience is preferred, but we are also very interested in experienced construction professionals who have strong people skills and would like to use their years of construction knowledge in a recruiting and interviewing role.

This could be an excellent opportunity for someone who has spent years running jobs, supervising crews, or working in commercial construction and is ready to move away from the day-to-day demands of the jobsite while still putting that experience to use.

Work Arrangement

This is a full-time employee position with Russo Modular and is not an independent contractor, temporary consulting engagement, or agency recruiting opportunity. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona . Some work-from-home flexibility is available for activities such as candidate sourcing, résumé review, phone interviews, follow-up, and other recruiting responsibilities that can effectively be handled remotely.

However, this is not a fully remote position . The employee will be expected to maintain a regular presence at Russo Modular's Phoenix facility and must be available for in-person candidate interviews at least two days each week . Additional time in the office may occasionally be necessary based on interview schedules, hiring needs, meetings, or other business requirements.

We are looking for someone who values the flexibility of a hybrid arrangement while also understanding that being present and connected to our operation is an important part of successfully recruiting for our team.

Why This Role Matters

Our goal is not simply to generate more applicants. Our goal is to find people who can actually perform the work . When we interview a metal framer, we need someone who can determine whether that candidate truly understands commercial steel framing. When we interview an electrician, we need someone who can have a credible conversation about commercial electrical work and recognize whether the candidate has the experience they claim.

Just as importantly, we need someone who can consistently find these candidates, build relationships with them, and keep qualified people moving through the hiring process.
